Without question, one of my all time favourite airliners, and certainly my fave Russian liner.

VERY RARE footage here of one of the early production models making two passes at the Tushino Air Show in 1961, the same year the bird entered service.

Only 31 were ever built, and except for one crash on take-off due to pilot error, she maintained a perfect safety record during her career, which spanned from 1961-76.

Most all the airframes were later modified into the TU-126 "Moss" (NATO Code Name), and served the Red Army as AWACS aircraft.

Not to be missed by "Rossiya" fans!!

Be sure to check my channel for the BEST in VINTAGE & RARE airliner videos!

  • @Mr2pint It is in my opinion the Marylin Monroe of the skies and the TU-154 is the Megan Fox of the skies ;-)!!!

  • @sightscreen66 well, with that money, you can get a fully tricked out interior brand new (you can still order one if you have connections in Tupolev) with enough spare cash to make it armed with an automated gatling gun!!!! :D I would like one, but in Black :D

  • @platinumsalamander It actually had one but was during take off and propably pilots mistake. nonetheless one of the most impressive flying machines

  • without a doubt one the best aircraft ever built.

    farking love it!

  • @sightscreen66 wont cost that much

  • If I won €200 million on the Euromillions lottery would I have enough to get the best of the remaining Tu-114s (prob with Tu-95 engines) back into the air? It'd be worth it.

  • this plane never had a crash!

  • It is 1961 and Stalin's face is gone. How ironic, five years previous Stalin still controlled the streets. His face was seen everywhere. It was in this year that the reformist Stalinists removed Stalin's body from Lenin’s museum and started to remove Stalin from soviet history books. The Stalinist bureaucracy was ashamed of Stalin and of his crimes. Yet the USSR remained a bureaucratic dictatorship with Stalin’s face and win out Stalin’s face.

  • @binaway

    Tu-4 - 65 tonnes max

    Tu-95 - 188 tonnes max

So an elephant is basically an enlarged and updated chihuahua..

  • Please friends, check out the difference between a 144 and a 114!

Both beautiful planes by the way!
