If you've ever wondered how to zoom-in, pan & tilt or rotate sections of your footage in Final Cut Pro, Express or Studio - hopefully this video will show you how to do it. I'll also show you how to preserve the aspect ratio using the Matte Widescreen Filter.

  • hi thanks. do you know how to zoom out

  • @myrtial89 Start the clip with the image zoomed in using the scale settings in the motion tab, then using keyframes as I show on the video, end the clip on a smaller scale. When played back, it will look like you are zooming out.

  • Did you then use iMovie? The intro and outro bits look like iMovie to me

  • @FOXYMORONZband Yes, I compiled the screencast using something like iShowU and put it together on iMovie just for convenience.

  • the cursor doesn't move as i move along on the timeline and the scaling isn't zooming in, can you help me please??

  • @bobbylandergan Presumably you've got a clip loaded on the timeline. Make sure you've rendered it. It should play or try grabbing the yellow pointer at the top of the cursor - you can drag it left or right. As for the other point, a common mistake is usually forgetting to load the clip into the viewer (left window) before applying the keyframes. To load it, double click the clip - it will then load into the viewer, then do the keyframes. Hope that helps.
