If McAllister had been interrupted, she might still have her job. However, she was not.

Instead she spoke her peace and when the rant was published and LA parents found out. They complained to the district superintendent and demanded she be fired.

California being an "at will" state, and McAllister being a substitute teacher the superintendent had no obstacles to doing just that.
