Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 rev 3.3 quick improvisation with filter FM. A special thanks goes to Greg Montalbano for finding bugs i couldn't find and fixing them and of course Suit & Tie Guy (STG labs) without who i'd never get this synth.
I love the the P5 and actually prefer the Rev 3 versions. I guess it all depends how you use it and what you want from it, but all Prophet 5's are great.
No, the rev 2 is where it's at. Rev 3 is great no question, but nowhere near as wild and untamed as the rev 2. The rev 3 will sound canned after while. Never the rev 2.
One of the best qualities of the Prophet-5 (IMHO) is its ability to generate some of the most breathtakingly warm, yet strikingly Digital timbres. The later versions (Rev 3+) are the best for this because of the hollow, resonant sound of the CEM based filter. I like to use the FM method for modulating the VCO and getting those great "Tin Drum" (JAPAN) sounds!
You're right, Don. I have to get me one of these.
