@jay733 You did the right thing! The only time you should take in a baby bird is when they are completely abandoned, injured or threatened(cat, other animal, human). Example; over a week ago I noticed a baby blackbird. He looked alone, wasn't afraid of us.... however, I saw the parents watching us. We left him be as his parents are there and do a better job raising. A week later I saw him again, healthy and lively as can be... his mom close by looking on.

@jay733 good job, it's usually hard to leave little animals alone, but if you can see parents around, it's almost always best to leave them be.

moth=mother sorry lol

i found one that was much more developed but not developed enough to fly so i put it in a butter container up in my tree but it kept flying out. it took 2 days for the moth to finaaly find it and me to keep picking it up and putting it back in. i hope he will do well this winter. mom seemed to provide him only the leftovers since he was in another tree.
i just took in a baby blue jay today too! how long did it take you to rehabilitate it and what did you feed it? thanks!

We fed it wet cat food bits. Takes about 6 weeks to get him out.

I just saw 2 baby chicks like this on my front lawn, I approached them and they didn't move or seemed scared whatsoever. I was a little worried about them because they were in the open lawn and they were so oblivious to people approaching that they would make easy prey for a cat but the two parents where there swatting at me, so I just let those two chicks be, I hope they allright.

I always believed that the Blue Jay laid her egg in another birds nest and it is reared by that other bird ...

No, that is a Cuckoo bird. Hence the phrase, "You were a cuckoo's egg." Meaning a bastard.
