Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi spoke at the New York office of the Council on Foreign Relations on September 24, discussing why Libya decided to give up its chemical and biological weapons program in 2003; his perspective on terrorism; and how he would respond if Iran develops a nuclear weapon.

this mad man does not represent africa, nor does africa represent islam

  • Found Qadaffis answer to the first question by placing his role in the context of historical affairs, a refreshingly honest approach learning from the past as he approaches the future. Alarmed those who asked questions had a cursory understanding of him on issues described for the layperson in Wikipedia, for example. A thoughtful, insightful and provocative discussion, I believe. Thank you for sharing.

  • Think it refreshing to hear Qaddafi describe his role in Libya in the context of systemic historical conditions and events humble observations. Believe there is integrity in his discussion and decisions to move Libya towards a globally integrated, just society based on lessons learned from the past. He seems to me like a thoughtful, solid, wise and pragmatic man, exhibiting rare traits for a person in his stature and position of responsibility.

  • How/When did Colonel Qaddafi develop his philosophy on (of) the "third world theory" and how is he viewed by the Libyan people...what is his "success rating"?

  • very intelligent answers.
