Francis Reid has portrayed Alice Horton since Days went on the air. Her unique humor and since of drama has made her special to many of her fans who see her as the sister, mother, aunt or grandmother we wished we had. For the long time fans of Day, it is hard to remember the time when Francis and Alice didn't grace our screens, making us laugh and cry, but most of all teaching us the true definition of family. It is too bad that the current writers can't write scenes like these. Might be still watching it. After over 30 years, I stopped over a year ago. I wrote better without putting any effort and little time.

@Tirgana Im still watching the show and I love it. They are planning on doin and exit storyline for alice's death, and is reported that many past characters are coming back to say good bye. I believe its slated to begin this spring.

Hopefully they find someone else to write it so that it will actually honor Francis and her work. What they say and do are frequently completely different things. Dee and Drakes exit was so badly written it was a of slap at them & their fans. Steve & Kayla's was worse. Higley is incapable of writing anything beyond threesomes and who's the parent. She can't even keep her own characters consistent with the histories she created. To have cliffhangers you have to have actual plots.

Im probably going to get crucified for saying this but I dont miss John and Marlena. Reiley ruined them for me during the stupid SSK storyline that i refused to watch. As far as Steve and Kayla are concerened they just didnt do it for me anymore. It took a major cast purge and Tomlin and Whitesell, and focus on the other vets to put this show back together. Tomlin and Whitesell are very aware of the history of this show, and I dont doubt that Alice's exit storyline will be handled right.
