CD DVD drive not working

Hello friends. This video will help you to resolve the optical drive issues (like CD drive icon disappearing from My Computer, drive not reading/writing media). The illustration is for windows XP however it works in the same way in Vista as well. Sorry for the spelling mistakes, if any :). Hope you find my upload useful !

Thank you for trying. My DVD's worked prior to your instructions but even after doing what you said, I still cannot play CD's.

@TheGlossyDiva Yes, it's a bit difficult to read - the path is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/Curr­entControlSet/Control/Class and click on the top one ending 10318 then delete just the 'filters' he mentioned by right clicking on each one and pressing delete. It worked for me.

well my computer still says insert a disc into drive E: when i try to run the disk in the drive??? any help here?

so i am in the registry editor currently looking at the right panel and i have no idea what the upperfilters and lowerfilters are, all i can see is a list of things like (Default), Class, ClassDesc etc.

what am i supposed to do next? please help
