The goal of IQ2 US is to raise the level of public discourse on our most challenging issues. To provide a new forum for intelligent discussion, grounded in facts and informed by reasoned analysis. To transcend the toxically emotional and the reflexively ideological. To encourage recognition that the opposing side has intellectually respectable views. To engage the live audience as active participants who will ask questions and decide which speakers have carried the day by voting on the motions both before and after the debate.

"I'm somewhat hawkish on international issues!"
Wow, how arrogant! You think that's a legitimate position? NO wars that have been fought have been fought for 'noble' reasons. Absolutely none. Is a Chinese person or an Iranian person allowed to be 'somewhat hawkish on international issues'? No, because their states are 'evil' and somehow a murder force that was trained by a two-party democracy is somehow better than a quasi-democratic theocracy and a communist state (that listens to its populace

Both sides are the right-wing douchebags who would be seen as ultranationalist pricks in any other part of the world, except for perhaps Saudi Arabia.

"regulation of the financial industry"
You mean Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, The Community reinvestment act, and the artificially low interest rates set by the Fed weren't enough?
Puh-leeze. Bush regulated the industry too much by appointing monetarists to the Fed (I'm not defending Bush, I'm defending Libertarianism)

Monetary policy, Monetary policy, Monetary p
Republirat vs. Demopublican, what's the differance.
Clinotn's administration oversaw the repeal of Glass-Segal Act of the 30's The legislation was signed into law by President Bill Clinton on November 12, 1999.
NAFTA also had a dreadful effect enacted Super Constitutionally by Clinton.
Both of these were "Republican" driven acts.
Get the picture?

uuuhhhh Bush economic policies are apart of what created the Economic collapse. But to be fair so did Clinton's policies.

What has happened is a tragedy for the world. Your country is almost ruined. Special deals with China because of the family's friendships is sad. Karl Rove's past self promotion as Bush's brain is now ironic.

Bush didn't cause the economic crash, the Federal Reserve is to blame.
It's sad to see these learned and soft spoken men not address this issue, Monetary Policy. The inequity of the Un-American banking cartel that sows economic catastrophe.
