Thinking and imagination arise from Brahman. Brahman is forgotten. Consciousness gets caught up in thinking and imagination, identifying with the notions that arise therefrom.

It is like awareness of the body. Some people have no sense of their body (this is like having no realisation of Brahman). The body is an amazing field of discovery. So too with our essential awareness.

Are the light rays distinct from the sun? They are non-different from the sun in the same way that waves are non-different from the ocean. This is described as "unmodified", nirvikalpa.

Nirvikalpa samadhi (see Section 5, chapters 62, 63)

Spiritual practice. Realise that everything is an indication and reminder of our own consciousness.

The materialising powers of consciousness. We materialise the notion of a body. We take our notion as reality. Whatever we believe or think of as reality then we "materialise" it. We concretise our beliefs.

Are dreams real?

They are very real at the time!

Turn your attention from your notions to your sensations. The sensations are what is real.
