  • This guy has NO IDEA what he is talking about.

  • @rockvanisher there is no such thing as bottom roping it is called redpointing

  • A better response would be "here's where he's wrong, and why". If the entire video is wrong, create one of your own detailing the proper procedure.

  • He must be some punk who makes minimum wage working retail and was told to make a video to promote the store's products. Far from an expert, I think Expert Village should keep their advice to themselves and focus on peddling merchandise instead of endangering lives with just enough information to be dangerous.

  • These guys always seem unsure of what they're saying and give out dangerous, incomplete or vague information about a subject that should be very precise. I'm Sick of "expert village."

  • Flagged, as with all "expert" village climbing videos. Fucking morons.

  • nonononononononono elmo and vanisher are correct read a book or something for christs sake. tope rope; belay from above. bottom rope; from below (as in a gym). top rope IS commonly, but wrongly, refered to as both. aggreed that these guys, expert village, are sending out dangerous info.

  • elmo, vanisher - sorry guys, Flyboy is officially correct! -

  • Top rope refers to either type - where the rope passes through a fixed anchor above the climber and belayer. The belayer can be at the anchor level in a hanging belay, or below the climber. Both methods are commonly called top rope. This method is most commonly used in climbing gyms, or after ascending the rock via lead climb and setting an anchor.

  • Not adequate information- if anyone is planning on learning from this guy...learn more from a book or experience climber. Don't listen to Mike Breyer from Expert Village - he teaches the American Death Triangle and can't rappel properly.
