Weirdest Socal thunderstorm for me was when i was up in Ojai playing tennis. During the day it was clear as a bell absolutely no clouds perfect visibility. around 1 am i woke up to a bright flash and it was pouring. a good downpour with thunder and lightning for at least 20 minutes.

Love Tstorms in SoCal. (though rare) Got some off the ocean one time in SD.
I usually go up to Mount Soledad an watch em out over Laguna Mnt.

I was last in Los Angeles at this time back in 1983. I remember it raining the last two days of that September when I was there. It also rained ten days earlier.
On October 4, while I was watching the movie "Valley of the Dolls" on TV, I saw flashes outside of my window, and I thought that somebody was taking pictures. I later found out on the local news that it was actually lightning.
Since I'm from Pennsylvania, thunderstorms are common during the summer here. But in L.A., that's unusual.

It was a great night! I was up at 2AM when the stronger of the storms rolled in. Some outstanding crawlers! You caught a good one! And that sunrise is gorgeous!
