A pinecone viewed from all sides simultaneously, assembled from a series of still images taken with the Mumford Time Machine and a rotary table. See also "Pinecone Spiral".

  • did that take long?

  • The movie is derived from about 1,000 separate still images of the pinecone, each taken from a different angle. These are then processed with a custom computer program I wrote to combine them into the new structure that you see. It took quite a while to create the tools that make it possible, about 3 hours to take all the pictures, and several hours for the computer program to process the images.

  • nice! i want more..!!

  • so it's like when they take the earth, which is a sphere, and lay it out flat on a one diminsional surface, and you can see it all at once. only you've created a process that can film, or at least recreate the 3D image, in a virtual surounding view, while the object is in motion.

    really pretty cool.

probably too complex for many to grasp the significance.

purhaps you should start with a globe, only it wouldn't give the full effect without the texture.

  • awesome stuff man, keep em coming
