This is Vixy (Michelle Dockrey) singing "Dawson's Christian", written by Duane Elms, at the Smoked Salmon (aka Dead Dog elsewhere) at Conflikt I, accompanied by Tony Fabris on guitar and Callie Hills on bass flute.

You can find out more about Vixy and Tony by going to their website at http://www.vixyandtony.com.

  • Filking is, or at least used to be, a constantly evolving and iterative process, creation both highly individualistic and communal, a rare and powerful mix. I like this new spin on the musical style.

  • @LizardSF Honestly, I'd say it's still a constantly evolving and iterative process. I love filk so much.

  • Meh, Jordin Kare's version is better.

  • @ChikaraWolf Your opinion, to which you are entitled. I happen to prefer this one myself.

  • It is not currently available as such, but Vixy and Tony have, if I recall correctly, obtained permission to record it, so they will likely release it eventually. Do check their website for more information. VixyandTony. Dot com.

  • Why is it I've always seen this attributed to a Vic Tyler in the past?

  • @scumhunter1966 The Mad Music Archive indicates that Vic Tyler did a recording of this song, but that the lyrics (and I assume the music but I am not certain about that part) are copyright 1987 to Duane Elms. :)

  • @DagainRevdatter I like em both actually :)

  • The mundanes have no capacity for making legends.

Us fen have to do it for them, and the poor bastids can't even appreciate the value of what we make for them.

Ah well. We need 'em for breeding stock, right?

  • Damn good song and the singer wasn't bad ithere

  • The second filk I heard I still love this song.

  • I really liked Duane's version of this song, infact I wrote a vidio for it.
