@Brook790349 they are all large the average for a male is 76cm at the shoulders

I really want a new dog and i have been looking at a lot of breeds. I want a huge dog. Are all of them that large or is that like really big for this breed?
-
What a big, beautiful dog! The only downsides: cost of feeding and meds(heartworm); and relatively short lifespan. After owning several giant breeds, I've concluded a medium sized mixed-breed might be a better choice. They tend to have fewer genetically linked illnesses, they live longer, and there are so many available for adoption/rescue.

if he does that with a little kid

@wormmy158 they were originally bred to look like a lion by a mayor in the town of leonberg in germany, not in the u.k. ( google on wikipedia)
-
@wormmy158 . Leonbergers were bred in the 1800s by a priest to resemble the coat of arms of the town of Leonberg in Germany which is in fact a lion's head, so you have a bit of it right. At first they were bred to look good and then they became working dogs. They are now used for search and rescue and water rescue. hey are related to the Newfie, Gt. Pyrenees and St. Bernard. They have webbed feet and are very strong swimmers and naturally will try to get people out of the water.

@wormmy158 No, they're not. And our family has leonbergers for over 10 years so we know where they come from and you obviously don't.

So can most shepherds and other big loyal dogs. Leaving either a shepherd or a Leo on it's own is generally a pretty bad idea. Big dogs like them need companionship
