I'm no pro... my main advice would be to go out with some people who really know what they're doing. Ask for criticism on with your placements. Take a self-rescue course. If you don't already have Freedom Of The Hills, pick it up and read it. Above all, just get after it!

Approach shoes or climbing shoes? Approach, I usd the Patagonia Finn shoes and climbed in the Sportive Miura.
