  • I think this is from the old series "Classic Trucks" episode 6,"monsters" which begins with a Cat 789 then moves onto heavy haulage. I am pretty sure that is where this is from but can't find the series anywhere. A Pickfords clip elsewhere is also from the same episode too. This program was on in the 90's.

  • You are correct, this clip and "Pickfords Heavy Haulage" was screened as "Classic Trucks"- sadly I only caught one episode

  • do you no how many episodes there was? I was sorting out my massive vhs collection and only found one episode which i hadent realised i still had-the american truck one.there was a plant series aswell.shame these aintout on dvd

  • I think there were only 6 episodes. I remember one with an old tar machine and another with farm machinery - I think I will post a clip!

  • those Pacific M26 units where 11 feet wide & had a Supercharged Cummins 320

  • i have such memories of watchin these as a kid!!! i just found this and bought tears to my eyes! lovely trucks lovely footage!

  • Those were the days!! No 40ch chicken boxes then - Boy, we didna know when we were well off!! :-}

  • Two of these Tractor units were bought.However one was wrecked when

    it was caught on a Level Crossing.The Signalman wasn't warned correctly about

    the speed of the load,and as it took the Crossing in low range a Train piled into it.

    I think a couple on the train were killed but the Tractor units crew jumped clear.

  • Brilliant video!

  • Are you talking about the scary high & wide load at 0:10 -> 0:15? I'm 99.9% sure it's a low-rpm steam turbine for a coal or nuke powerplant.

  • Where's Harry Beese?
