@jappe13: No west India is the western region of India and India is in South Asia. Haiti shares an island with Dominican Republic called Hispaniola. Haiti is considered part of Latin American just like Dominican Republic. But it also depends on how you define Latin America.

-In order to be President, you need to have a residence in Haiti for 5 consecutive yrs before the election.
Jean has not lived in Haiti for 28 yrs. his home isJersey.
It's a pretty clear disqualification
The Haitian elite and its U.S./U.N. sponsors are counting on his appeal to the youth to derail the people's movement for democracy and their call for the return of President Aristide. Most Haitians will not be hoodwinked by the likes of Wyclef Jean.
