National Night Out "Live Your NO" booth - Minot, N.D., August 2011

Minot Safe Communities Coalition (Minot, N.D.) put on a National Night Out event on August 2, 2011 and promoted the North Dakota Department of Human Services' "Live Your No' campaign.

The goal of the 'Live Your No' campaign is to encourage youth to find their passion; this will help them to make healthy, positive choices in the future. Research shows that when youth are engaged in healthy activities that they enjoy, look forward to, and are proud of, they are less likely to abuse alcohol and other drugs.

We can all encourage the youth in our lives to find their passion and to live their no. Ask what their interests are and encourage and support these interests. We can all play a part in creating a healthy and drug-free environment!
