Marc Ridgeway of http://torionsword.com/ has begun a series of destruction test on the Ronin dojo and dojo pro series of katana. This is a long video, but it covers everything. Sword vs sword, sword vs wood, sword vs metal trash can, sword vs 5 pound hammer, and more. If you want to see what happens when a sword is pushed beyond it's limits, this is the video.

  • you sir are a dum ass to go against metal object its suposed to be a callectible item not a kids toy!!

  • @QCeddy133 This is a destruction testing video. The intent was to destroy the sword.

  • *blade snaps at paper test* well i was hoping to get a little further along than this... :p

Thank you sir for demonstrating the quality of this blade. I have decided to purchase a ronin katana after i pay off a student loan this year. I have told two sword enthousiasts who plan to as well. I think you did a good job at covering you back in the explanation and hopefully the katana nazis wont verbally thrash you. You should have thrown/stuck it for a fanally :)

  • @RazorDsknives I am glad you liked it! Marc has additional tests he will be doing on a few more swords. In addition to breaking swords, he will be doing some rust removal, etching, etc. Lots of interesting stuff that anyone who owns a sword needs to know.

  • @Roninkatanas

hey dude, any reccomendations on which katana i should get? im looking for the 400-500 dollar range, i'm aware that i am using dollars even though my native currency is pounds, but could you recommend anything that will still be there in 2015? (my 18th birthday)

  • @XKDUBSTEP Companies that are in business for the long haul include Ronin, Kris Cutlery, Hanwei, Cheness, and Dynasty Forge. All of them offer varying price points from medium to high end.

  • @QCeddy133 I am grateful for you sharing this as I found it truly fascinating (as a student of the sword). For some future suggestions, how about test cutting against a mannequin in various simulated armour, show how to restore the integrity of the edge after tameshigiri, and maybe some slow-motion clips to highlight certain points. The only thing I would have liked to have seen in this video is a fully committed cut against the other blade and the trashcan just to see the possible limits.

  • Hello sir, you are FAT!!

  • @TheMedievalMan

depends on what conspiracies you believe in,

    2012, 2016, 2020

    there's a million conspiracies.

  • @XKDUBSTEP The question is, are we even going to make it to 2015, for you to buy that sword?

  • This is a average good steel sword, not a real samurai katana

  • too much of a steven seagal movies

  • and where shout at another cuts?

  • It would be several grade levels.
