You have a few problems, the way I see it:
1) Level design. The "leap of faith" at the beginning is something that shouldn't appear in a thoughtfully designed game.
2) Clutter: the columns on the background are somewhat confusing as to what is in the foreground and what is in the background. To avoid that, give them a different palette, maybe reduce the contrast. Compare with quality platformers, like, say, metroid zero mission, and you should have an idea of what to (not) do.

the background looks like RTP from RPG Maker 2000/2003...

When I go to play this game, it loads and the screen just sits black. I'm using and N5 but it has the same basic software as the R4. Any help?
