http://www.marceltiemensma.com I arranged and recorded the hymn 'Crown Him with many crowns' while being in the midst of a depression. The melody of this hymn appealed so much to me, but because of this state I was in I couldn't identify with the major mode. So I arranged it initially in minor. I was also meditating on Isaiah 61:3, where God speaks to the prophet about 'giving them beauty for ashes'. My 'creative circle' was round: ultimately we know that we get beauty for ashes (imagine ashes!) and we ascend - so to say - from a minor to a major mode. And so does my rendition of this hymn 'crown Him' too.....
Dedicated to Dean Sherman (YWAM) who taught me about Isaiah 61:3.
