  • OMG my heart is racing.

  • KC...what was rybka thinking about that queen sac?

for example the position at about 8:43 after ...Nc6 how is that for black?

    "looks tasty"

  • Guys Kingscrusher is going to get to Silman. I think he calls them fuzzy ideas not dangerous weapons or threats.

I think Maza deals with the emphasis of reducing blunders, tactics, playing often and analysing games as rapid chess improvement. obviously any emphasis has its drawbacks. we work on our weaknesses as we them in analysing our games.

But i think we are jumping the gun. I am certain that the crusher will bash them all over the head like he has done IGM Kotov and Greco!!

  • great vid!

can you put the PGN of the game in the description

  • What makes me think back in 19 cth chess was artistic game, there was caffees where players played for money and reputation, today there is not places like that, I would be the most happy if I could go to some caffee to play chess insted of internet, then you could see the face of your opponent when you blast him away, and that would be sometnihg.

  • Incidentally, Maza is somewhat the anti-Sillman when it comes to their respective thoughts on this subject.

Sillman's positional imbalances method though maybe not be as initially appealing as Maza's, I do belive it certainly has it's place for pre-2000elo chess improvement.

Del La Maza has severely critised Sillam's literal works and vice-versa.

Personally, the regular study of tactics has seemed to yield the most quickest results upto about 1600elo - but Maza seems to disagree with this

  • Hi,

Kingcrusher, do you think Del La Maza is right when he says that tactical ability is much more important that positional understanding, post 2000elo chess?

Maza did also illistrate his point by winning a chess title and going from 1600-2050elo+ points by ONLY aggressively pursuing tactics.

So does it not follow that all non-tactical books/vids become mostly obsolete for study to all players below 2000elo rating?

  • You mentioned Del La Maza, Maza has a disdaine for most non-tactical chess annotated books/vids, he considers them useless for a chess players growth, unless you already have a rating above 2000elo approx. - and he did prove his point to some extent by wining a chess title and reaching 2000+elo points, simply by aggressively developing his tactical ability.

  • Hi, KC!

I found interesting to notic that black´s queen sacrifice wasn´t actually sacrifice, but rather a winning and creative way out for white's trap for black's queen. Do you agree?

Very keen on your videos down here in Brazil! I don´t miss one!

    Thanks!

    Cheers
