Robert Carl Cohen co-written & co-directed documentary of 1975 visit to Japan of American members of the Reiyukai, a multi-million member Buddhist organization - the first with both male & female priests.
I have appreciation toward the Reiyukai Kyodan, for it is an "ancestor" of the Buddhist sect I follow, Risshō Kōsei Kai. It has many common themes with Kōsei Kai practice: wearing of the tasuki (sash), reading of the THREEFOLD Lotus Sutra, reciting sutra excerpts from a kyoten, inter-religious dialogue for peace, etc.
@krishnaniapoland Kapilvastu and surrounding areas, in 500 BC, belonged to several janapadas (kindoms) of India, in which the Buddha was of Śākya descent; Nepal was not yet a sovereign nation (gained independence in 1768 CE).
Please correct the mistake in this speech....... Lord Gautam Buddha was born in the Shakya clan of Kapilvastu which is situated in Nepal, not in India.
