Clarence Thomas, like all great men, blazes his own trail. If people follow fine, if not, well that is just fine too.

You can see how much influence Sowell had on Thomas. If more black kids looked up to Sowell and Thomas instead of J-z, 50 cent or some illiterate rapper, the black community would be in much better shape

The historical fact is that many slaves who wrapped themselves around the concept of individual rights and dignity. By the mid 1820's these rugged souls, who grew in their boldness to stand up to their overseers, became known as Uncle Toms. Black leaders who discovered they had an Uncle Tom among those they supervised were struck with panic at the impending challenge to authority.

Thank you for posting this, uncletomwatch.

“Uncle Tom” is a term used by white liberals who get nervous about diversity of thought.

Unless the title "uncle" means using your intellect, hard work and desire to rise above poverty and adversity to reach great heights, Sowell is not an uncle as you label him. He puts most people to shame based off what he has accomplished and where he started. I wish more people were like him, as intelligent, educated and wise. Read his bio. It is amazing and inspirational for all people. He is a role model for all children, all backgrounds.

Calling them Uncle Toms is part of the reason why some blacks do not want to move foward in life. While I disagree with Clarence Thomas on a lot, I don't call him an Uncle Tom for being a black conservative. Thomas Sowell isn't an Uncle Tom for telling blacks to take responsibility for themselves.

@tadpole256 The Hip Hop 'culture' was a side effect of inner city problems. Logic fail.
Insinuating that Dr. Sowell and Justice Thomas are "Uncle Toms" is insulting, disgusting, and infuriating. Not just to them, I'm sure they've heard such petty and ignorant ribs before, but to the black community at large.
Shame on you, "UncleTomWatch." You should be applauding their achievements and stances on empowering young blacks, instead of deriding them for the same.

I thought Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves. Yet, here we are in the 21st Century and black people still are not truly free. They are not free to have their own opinions, ideas, and beliefs. And if they stray away from their master's plantation, they can look forward to a public lynching in the form of ridicule and character assassination as they get dragged back to the plantation. N*ggers need to know their place, right?
