They pull you back up to the starting point. You end up spending several minutes upside down (head lower than your feet) so you may get headache, dizziness and nausea.
I wish they had a second platform at the end of the zip line so that they could unload passengers there. Once unloaded, they could pull the empty harnesses back to the starting point much faster.
We rode this Flying Fox twice (before 2007) and we hit the cliff, too. We didn't crash deep into the undergrowth but the person on my right side touched the canyon wall.
Before the ride we had been asked to sign a document which basically said that we would be riding the Fox at our own risk and if anything goes wrong, we can't sue the ride operator for injuries.
After our close encounter with the rock face, no refunds were given. A free ride was offered but we told them to shove it.
I believe it was an unusually strong tailwind which made him to travel the extra distance to hit the end of the line. Fortunately undergrowth softend the impact so that he remaind uninjured and even continued to enjoy. A narrrow gorge creates a nozzle effect turning a gentle breeze into s strong wins.

@GravityCanyon1 But you promised this guy wouldn't hit the cliff but he did just that. You lied then so how do we know you're not lying now?
