We caught up with Lastrite footwear owner Neville Brunker, who described the process his company go through in order to produce the quality hand made footwear that can be seen in his shop based in Whangarei, where they sell all manners of hand made walking, tramping & hiking shoes and boots from genuine leather and top quality materials.

"Well it's an age old process and it has been around for centuries and we believe that making footwear by hand is just something special, and it gives something special back to your customers and they know that they're made by hand because the proof is in the pudding."

  • @labrat7357 If you want a good pair of mil-spec or "military grade" boots, try save some money and buy one that are "Made in the USA". I'm talking for real.

  • This is what is considered sticking to your roots. These days they glue the rubber on and no stitch, and they sell for over 100, and then they fall apart in one season. You can tell these shoes you can wear for over 15 years. Now that is quality. I will always buy handmade shoes.

  • Now that's a proper shoe!

  • Хорошо!

  • Back in the 1980's there was a tragic event in Victoria at Mt Bogong where a couple of school kids went bushwalking with cheap Chinese rubber and cloth "military style " boots which literally fell apart and stranded the kids ,who perished in some extreme weather. A good solid, high quality boot is priceless..

    Regards

  • Very interesting! Really fun to watch and provides insight as to why one shoe costs more than another.
