The Zhen Wei academy is a Traditional Martial Arts school taught by 6th Generation Grandmaster Lu Jun Hai. Classes are held in Central London and in Essex.

The demonstration took place at the 2008 Seni Show during the opening of the Chinese Martial Arts competition. A number of Open hand, Weapon and sparring sets were performed for the onlooking crowds.

  • yeah, the wushu family always looks really nice. i just wish it were more practical. i imagine somebody could push past all those fancy, stylized movements and just drive an attack right into these guys. I don't see any grappling either. I guess it's a difference between martial arts and martial science. this stuff looks really fun, though, cheers.

  • Hi XiXidreams, You seem to have confused contemporary and traditional Wushu. I guess this is a mistake that some people can make, but please don't think Mizong Quan falls into the contemporary category.

Please let us know if you have any questions that will help you understand.

    Regards.

    Adam.

  • These students are really good!

  • Thank-you for your comment.

I think most of my fellow students would agreed that everything that we can do is due to the fantastic opportunity we have of learning from Shifu Lu Jun Hai. He's nothing less than a living legend.

  • Can you tell me a little about what Chinese wushu styles influenced the creation of Mizong quan? In other words, what could be considered some of Mizong's roots?

Also, do you guys doe any iron body training for conditioning? If so, what kind?

Also, the students of the school do look quite good, and it's nice to see people taking the art form so seriously. = )

  • very nicely done, great forms i do wish skilled practioners like yourselves did demos they'd include more "real fights" to show the styles look like in a fight. A lot of people think the form is how you fight and how you fight is the form rarely is that the case. anway, keep it up =)

  • Good song to put on this

  • a couple of small errors on the one of the forms...but all in all a nice demo :)

  • All correct, but there is a third name/branch of this style called Mizongluohan. Also, Fearless was good, but it was all modern Wushu. Not a single historically accurate technique.

  • If anyone has read this and saw a mistake, please feel free to correct me ^_^

  • Sort of. MiZong Yi/Quan was the style of Huo Yuan Jia, the main protagonist of the Fearless movie. It's pretty deceptive and unpredictable, hence the name, "Lost Track Fist".

This style is also commonly referred to by the name of YangQingQuan, "Yang Qing's Fist", as Yang Qing was supposedly a practitioner of this form. Another legend says that he fought many other martial artists, and since they could not figure out what style he was using, they called it MiZong Quan, "Lost Track Fist".

  • Well, that's what I mean by the Wushu "family". Wushu covers a pretty broad range of styles, both traditional and contemporary. I think Mizong is a really beautiful style, both to watch and I'm quite sure in practice as well. I'm pretty sure that you also know a good deal more about Wushu than I do, as I haven't studied it on its own. I was more considering the practical side, which is very often a concern now that so many people study MMA.
