Have you ever seen a turntable this big? At one time, they were common in radio stations.

  • I can't compare its weight to Hell, but it is heavy, as a quality turntable should be.

  • a work of art that could'nt be duplicated ever again...

  • @mta415 With outsourcing, you are probably correct. Equipment made in the USA couldn't be beat.

  • Now that Looks Like A VERY INTERESTING! Turntable To Me, It Also Looks Extremely Well Built And Heavy. That Song Is High Class Too, What Is It Called Please?

  • @ninjabluewings The title of the tune is "Mexico."

  • I'm mad about the CB-500. My dad, who incidentally owns an original d'époque Garrard 301, showed me pics in his old radio books when I was a kid, and I remember being blown away at the time upon realising just how massive that 16" platter was!! (and the 301's not one of those smaller ttables, either!). I've settled for Technics 1200s (MKII), despite the absence of 78 speed, BUT I'd gladly do away with em if I could find me one of these fab CB-500s.

Cheers, and thanks for the vid.

  • @alaincherif These CB-500's show up on Ebay periodically. There is a conversion for the 1200's to play 78. Research on line for the info on who does this.

  • i guess that turntable is heavy as hell!

  • I have one also - although mine is fitted with a Gray Research tone arm. I hope to capture and upload some videos of mine soon.

Amazingly I was able to add a belt drive electronic control motor without abandoning the original wheel drive - and I much prefer the stability offered by the belt drive system. These truly are HUGE in person - without a doubt.

    Thanks for sharing your video.

  • That's the table that Johnny Fever used to spin. I would love to find one of those.

  • @stratocat9999 cheers for the info! I have an extra, busted 1200 (a black 1210, actu.) lying around somewhere; suppose I could ask about potential mods if/when I get it fixed ....

  • @dec2034 Hey there. Never really understood that - comparing ttables sonically. Doesn't that mainly depend on your choice of cart/speakers/amp?? Other than that, as long as your ttable is properly set-up & earthed .... I personally prefer direct-drive systems, and don't believe you have to sell blood & organs to get a perfectly decent phono cartridge. Oh - and I also prefer playing my deck(s) through a good (analogue) mixer hooked-up to my amp (helps in heaps, btw).
