  • This was NOT the B-side to "San Francisco" -- this was the enext single! I totally remember this record as it was/is one of my favorites. I have still have it and play it once in a while. This is a very cool tune! Another John Phillips classic (man, what a roll he was on in those years!)

  • It was side B for my 45 then. I agree. It is another cool tune by John Phillips

  • Thank you oldibutgoodi54 for taking the time to upload one of the most criminally overlooked classics from the 60's, Scott Mc has possibly one of the sweetest voices in pop music history and John Phillips' track record for pop compositions speaks volumes for its bad self. When I first heard this I guessed it was David Crosby, who also boasted some clean pipes! RIP John Phillips, you had a good run old son and Scott Mc Kenzie you done good too! Thanks You Tube for the space&obg53 for the effort!

  • As much as I like "San Francisco", this is the best Scott McKenzie song ever! It is also the follow up song to San Fran. His voice is so haunting in this song and I could listen to it over and over. Thanks for the wonderful posting.

  • I agree with those who are saying that originally, this song was not the flip side to "San Francisco". I remember loving this song and buying the '45, although this is a '45 that I have since lost. This song did very poorly on the charts, but it's an excellent song.

Actually, it was a B-side to "San Francisco", as a reissue single. My mom used to have the 45 of "San Francisco" with "Like an Old Time Movie" as the flip. The label was Epic, and the color layout was light blue with pale yellow teardrops around the center hole, and Memory Lane in white print around the top perimeter (Memory Lane was an oldies reissue label. These 45s contained two hits, one on each side.)

  • Hear me now, believe me later! History will prove me right that "The Voice Of Scott McKenzie" will stand an even greater test of time and remain listenable well into the next century! And, "Like An Old Time Movie" will forever be the centerpiece of that timeless and peeless L.P. It is just that good of a listening experience! God Bless and thank yous to: oldibutgoodi54, You Tube and John Phillips for the upload, the power and the space and for writing a masterpiece or two!

  • Just a great song, about someone coming around to use the guy again.

  • I own this 45, & it's the "B" side to " What's The Difference". IMHO, this is a masterpiece, & a song that ought to have been Scott's biggest hit, ever. What a voice he had. Gorgeous. Wolfsky9, 64 y/o.

  • Beautiful song.

  • "San Francisco" was certainly good but this is excellent. The former probably was bigger because it was anthemic. This is simply a lovely lovely song.....

  • one of those great tunes that seldom get play time.

  • When I first heard this song in 1967 I did what I am sure most did. I played it over and over again. Then I repeated the process. My mother was not amused. It is truly a classic unknown by many. Time has tested its worth and it is still a hauntingly powerful song. I can still feel, smell and see the room I was in when I first heard it.
