  • In Mainland China you can still find this kind of market. . very similar. And when the Chengguan (city security enforcement) arrive and chase away or beat the vendors. . this part is also very similar.

  • This footage is taken from the Ivan Polunin collection.

  • Now that is fresh food. Not like today, fresh means it is in the market, already slaughtered maybe a few days ago and packed and on ice. See the fish still moving. Used to follow my mother to the market in potong pasir when I was little.This was the scene in the sixties too. The smells were very strong and everything was wrapped in paper. You had to bring your own market basket too. No plastic bag. Very green.
