The Cult of the 21st century, led by electrified front man
Ian Astbury.
I was star struck as Ian Astbury and the tight knit rock band , The Cult,
entered stage left on to the legendary Eagles Ballroom stage, at The Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
I had read accounts written by Lonn Friend , in the book
"Life on Planet Rock," that Ian Astbury,
(also lead for THE DOORS OF THE 21st Century).....had an eerie resemblance to Jim Morrison.
In 1979 Ian saw the movie , The End.
Ian Astbury states it was more like a religious experience for him.
Jim Morrison changed his life and fueled his vocal ..ego maniacal stage presence.
As I gleamed and screamed....I heard a voice in my head call Jim...Jim....
The CULT
Ian Astbury,
Billy Duffy,
John Tempesta,
Mike Dimkich, and
Chris Wyse are the current Line up.
The Southern Death Cult as they were originally named in 1981 ......shortened their name, and have went through over 20 members.
See the list of past members of THE CULT, here
The Cult ,out on the road gigging world wide to promote their new LP CAPSULE 2,
stopped at THE RAVE in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for a small power house performance
before tour break.
The tour will resume in January 2011.
See dates and more on The Cult's Myspace and Facebook.
Be sure to catch the fiery, wildflower , five man eclectic past, present, and futuristic jam, THE CULT, in your city.
Realize the new LP, Capsule 2 , is as good as it gets....
true, light, dark, truth, poetic, timely, pleasant......
hopefully the beginning of a wonderful era for a true British rock invasion. This is not THE END of THE CULT my friends.
