ya it is losing vertical deflection . heres how you fix it. pick it up and take the back cover off and take the back cover out to the curb

did you ever find out what was the problem with the tv, and how to fix it?
-
I had the Same problem with my trinitron, I just bought me another smaller tv (Element brand).

I have a Sony Trinitron TV from 1995 that has been faithful to me but all of a sudden it worked fine and then I shut it off and now it does not come on again. No power what so ever. No sound. Any ideas? The plug is good.

Mine just started blinking. Is it fixable?

Thank you very very much. Did what you mentioned and it worked, so far. Had to Googled what vertical ic looks like, but found it and touched up. Yes, this is a very good set and worth trying to figure out what is wrong.

I think it's the CRT being very weak or leaky capacitors
The vertical ic has bad solder joints ,I have over 20 years fixing these things .This is a great set its worth fixing ,and will onlt take 5 minutes.

I say vertical IC too. If you change it I think NTE 1788 will match. (TDA 8172) Less than $10.
