  • @Chuck88keys Why would you blame the Mother & Surgeons if the daughter did'nt realize untill the age of 37? :b

  • My daughter in law is 37 Her mother was a crack-addict. She was adopted by another woman. She has had NO problem spinewise until recently. She has a tethered spinal cord and spina bifida Until recently she was unaware that she even had these problems.........unfortunately her adoptive mother didn't do her job right and have it watched, especially since she required some back surgery when very young "Lack of monitoring"

  • Good job doc.

  • Ask your doctors how much they know about agent orange.

  • @PoisonTea4u -My child has a tethered cord. My (child's grandfather) was exposed to agent orange and has subsequentially developed multiple myeloma cancer from the exposure. Do you know of any links?

  • Does anyone with a tethered cord have a parent who was exposed to Agent Orange?

  • @alexandriaheather Awe, I wish i could give you a hug.

  • In 2005 I had 4 inches of my thoracic cord untethered from the vertebra teeth. I believe my neurosurgeon when he said without the operation I would most likely be in a wheelchair by now. So I'm grateful to still be walking and sometimes even dancing. But the nerve damage and constant pain and fatigue, most likely fibromyalgia, is sometimes very disheartening. I'm posting this for others who came here because they have the same or similar rare conditions. You're not alone and life is a gift.

  • @ProCellGames Thats a pity, sorry to hear! I hold a lot of hope that in our lifetimes medical technology will evolve to the point where such conditions are easily treatable. Best wishes to you, and thanks for your response :D

Oh my son is doing really well, and his scar has healed beautifully. Just keeping my fingers crossed that his cord doesn't fuse again, but at least they will be keeping an eye on things.

  • In 2 days time my 15 month old son will be having this procedure done. I am extremely nervous! It is nice to hear from others here that their (or their loved ones) experiences went well. Thanks for posting!
