The Samoyed is an old breed that grew up in Siberia, alongside a nomadic people called the Samoyede. The nomadic life meant that the Sammy had to be an all-purpose dog. They are working dogs and people dogs and have an urge to wander.

We had a breeding pair when I was growing up. I remember every summer they'd just frolic around in the snow like there was no tomorrow and the female, when I was really little, would stand over me when there was a stranger in the room as though I were her puppy. TERRIFIC breed. Not always the brightest bulb in the shack but full of heart.

Aww, I miss Breed All About It. Dogs 101 is a good show, but I grew up watching this show.
