A short but sweet clip of the small French nuclear test "Japet".

Japet was possibly a developmental test for a primary trigger for the TN-60/61 warhead. The mushroom cloud reached an altitude of 28,800 feet. Three rockets were launched into the cloud to collect gaseous samples.

  • @MickeyLS Because if "everyone" that has them gets rid of them, one of two things will happen. One, there will be all kinds of conventional wars (a lot more than there are now), because that is the way it was prior to the bomb. Second, someone could hide some (or discover how to build them) and try and take over the world with them. MAD does mean something. The bomb isn't going away, ever.

  • why does france need nukes? why does anyone for that matter

  • no, france never does thermonuclear test more than 2.6 megatonne TNT with "canopus" test in 1968 ...

it's impossible for this test to be than more of canopus with 9 megatonne

but, i think this test can be more of twenty kilotonne ...

possible to be a doped with tritium bomb (not thermonuclear)

france have test a lot of doped nuclear bomb of 100-500 kilotonne ...

  • lol it is small 9 kilotons could flatten new york all the way but tsar bomba could flatten wait if u detonate tsar in middile of new york u could flattem DC and philidelphia city (i think its called heh) and u could probly feel blast or heat in my home town of overland missouri lol pop (30 sumthin thousand) its a medium sized town perfect conditions for living pollution is low and traffic ok :))))!!!!FTW OVERLAND YEAH!!!

  • "This is only a test"

  • i think this is megatone not kilotone

  • Looks pretty small yield to me. Don't let the condensation cloud fool you.

  • I don't see how this can be 9kt. I'm sure it's much bigger than that.
