@whooaduude At the bottom of the layers palette there's a symbol which looks like a grey rectangle with a white circle in it's centre. Select the layer you want to mask, then click the aforementioned symbol to create the mask. Alternatively you can open the Layer menu on the tool-bar, choose Layer Mask> Reveal All from the drop down.
