We are so honored that the CBS Evening News just won the 2008 Edward R. Murrow award for best newscast. As you'll see in this video, we've worked pretty hard this year to bring you the best quality reporting in the business, so we're glad it was recognized.

This video was created as an introduction for an award Katie is receiving, but it's so great we wanted to share it on the channel.

  • screw the haters katie...haters make ya greater. they're just jealous. Go Katie!

  • best broadcast by far. good job katie, keep up the good work.

  • how can people who have no honor bestow it on one of their own.

  • no one does this anymore

  • Amen, Bentleymon. I watched her lob softballs to John McCain and doggedly pursue an absurd and bizarre line of questioning about the surge with Barack Obama; I must say that if she's going to wear her biases on her sleeve like that, CBS should find someone else to handle the election coverage. Edward R. Murrow was spinning in his grave like a rotisserie chicken during both "interviews."

  • Give back the award.

  • In their handling of the McCain interview yesterday, Katie and CBS News pointed to the role of news coverage in selling a candidate. McCain certainly needs all the help he can get, but is it morally and ethically defensible to deliever that help?

  • Mrs. Couric is doing a spectacular job as anchor of the CBS Evening News. Eventually more people will come to realize that. I look forward to seeing her on this broadcast for many years.
