BBC Two's overpopulation programme "Horizon: 2009-2010: How Many People Can Live on Planet Earth?".

Synopsis:

"In a Horizon special, naturalist Sir David Attenborough investigates whether the world is heading for a population crisis.

In his lengthy career, Sir David has watched the human population more than double from 2.5 billion in 1950 to nearly seven billion. He reflects on the profound effects of this rapid growth, both on humans and the environment.

While much of the projected growth in human population is likely to come from the developing world, it is the lifestyle enjoyed by many in the West that has the most impact on the planet. Some experts claim that in the UK consumers use as much as two and a half times their fair share of Earth's resources.

Sir David examines whether it is the duty of individuals to commit not only to smaller families, but to change the way they live for the sake of humanity and planet Earth."

how about decreasing the level of our "life style" along with controlling "population" as we saw in part "5" one american individual consumes as much as 4.5 individuals living in china, so if we take the 350 million people in america and multiply them by 4.5 ===> 350m + 4.5 = 1.57 billion, so the way i see it, the Americans are consuming earth energy and agriculture more then china, and china is paying the price with the policy of one child and nothing is done in america.

Just have one child, limit inmigration to a quota and you are done. No need to push ppl into cancer or poverty.

@samishihadeh you are definitely right Sam. I couldnt have said better myself. However, if you place any intervention in people's life in America, you will see protestors or even riots. Only in China, you can impose such regulation and will not create any exacerbation since there is no human right

But you are definitely right. People in US are using resources in a out-of-control fashion. And also, they are using up alot of supplies for their OWN benefits at the cost of many poor countries.
