You know, regardless of the car I'd rather it go down in a battle than be freshened up and only driven on weekends or to shows, real cars are treated like cars, not jewels.

It isn't as if what goes onto the track is whole. There are plenty of bits that come off a typical banger that go back into the market to keep some classics going. It's something that Mr. Wilperson neglected to pass on in his critique on the sport, not to mention that for every misinformed driver that races a classic that might have been better kept for restoration, there's at least one person that is up to his eyes in debt trying to restore something that might be better off wrecked. I would like to see all this brand new shit like Kias, and other Far East crap getting smashed up. I would love to race and smash up a brand new Kia. Now that would be fun.

I hate this. I have no problem with everyday bilge being smashed up but there are some right grunting thickos involved in it who think nothing of stealing somebody's pristine classic car just to race it. "Duh! I like smashin fings up!".

Im not against banger racing, but I dont like to see rare old cars getting this treatment. Mondeos and other 90's stuff is OK 'coz I cant ever see the day when those sort of cars will be worth restoring.

@classicczech this is very true. i had a deal once swapping rover p5 interiors,lights,etc for rolling shells with a guy who restored p5's and he had some shells that were just too far gone. a lot of banger drivers also have a mint classic car or 2 tucked away in a garage.
