U.S. Serviceman Faces 16 Years In Prison For Filming Crazy Cop

When police arrested Anthony Graber for speeding on his motorbike, the 25-year-old probably did not see himself as an advocate for police accountability in the age of new media.
But Graber, a sergeant with the Maryland Air National Guard, is now facing 16 years in prison, not for dangerous driving, but for a Youtube video he posted after receiving a speeding ticket.
The video, filmed with a camera mounted on Graber's motorcycle helmet designed to record biking stunts rather than police abuse, shows a plain clothes officer jumping out of an unmarked car and pointing a pistol at the motorcyclist.
It does not portray the policeman in a positive light.
After he posted the video on Youtube, police raided Graber's home, seized computers and put him in jail.
"The case is critical to the protection of democracy because I don't think you can have a free country in which public officials are able to criminally prosecute people who film what they are doing," David Rocah, a lawyer with the American Civil Liberties Union in Maryland who is representing Graber, said.
Even though he had never been arrested before, Graber is being charged with illegal wiretapping and could face 16 years in jail.

theres got to be more to the story then this,this smells like a pile of garbage.Why would the cops want more attention by charging him with anything more then a speeding ticket...makes no sense,so I'm calling it.

i will be disgusted if he gets sentenced.the cop didn't show NO BADGE and DIDN'T identify himself for over a short period of time.so in my eyes it could have been a robbery to.in short the laws in the US are retarded,there is a law against everything and loopholes everywhere in the system...instead of charging him with a ridiculous sentence,do the right thing and say your department FUCKED UP .this guy they wanne charge serves and protects your country and you wanne put him away for 16 years???

I remember when I was fighting a traffic ticket, I was defending myself and I only brought up simple facts such as who is the second witness etc. Needless to say the Judge said America doesn't have a Constitution anymore... those days are gone. On friggen record he said it! Pissed me off so much but of course the citation was dropped to a lesser. He's right, it's the United States of Incorporation. There are so many laws/codes in America every 5 seconds your breaking one.

That cop was way out of line pulling a gun as soon as he got out of the car. Only reason they are tring to put him in jail is because the police department screwed up so they are tring to make an example out of what happens to people who film their mistakes. Seems like a dictatorship going on in that area of the state...

Was the rider speeding? Yes, and he has every right to be filming on PUBLIC ROAD! The rider's camera is serving the same purpose as a police dash cam. Was the unmarked officer out of line? HELL YAA! The officer was in an unmarked car without his lights on (could be his own personal vehicle). The office should have showed his badge, not his pistol... The officer needs to cool off and get off his power trip...
