@graemefield01 every movie ever made has heavy imagination value to make it interesting to watch. Many of incidents from a film are true. Duel did take place and lasted for 3 days and zaitsev won. Other hollywood inaccuracies are irrelevant makes a good film.

Zaitsev mostly hunted for officers, generals, colonels, and high priority targets hence why he has 242 CONFIRMED kills and around 400 which are unconfirmed meaning he has 242 dog tags he took himslef others he could not.

@luvpump1 No! from vassilis own memoars duel is true and it lasted 3 days. Point was that it was a team against team german took out 2 zaitsev snipers, while zaitsev took out 3 german snipers and finally he took out a german lead sniper who was a director of wermacht sniper school from berlin. His name was Thornvald or something like that. Erwin Konig is fictional character. Russians have a rifle and a scope from a german vasili killed.

@jonesy97 Vassili Zaitsev was the one of the first people who organised sniper groups and tactics in the world. Some of his first kills include killing a officer and 2 german soldiers from a distance of 820m with his mosin nagant WITHOUT SCOPE. He shot an officer when he fell down the window two germans came to the window to look down then in quick sucession from distance of 820m he shot both of them. This was start of his sniper career.

The scope at 0:39 is a PU scope that was introduced in 1942. At 0:43 there is the PEM scope that ran from the mid thirties to about 1942. The PEM was a Soviet knock off a German Zeiss scope.
