None one better to make a point about humanity's fake values like Sir Douglas Adams. Rest in peace, sir, and thanks for all the fish!

Seems to be from the Southwest. Bristol, Somerset, Devon, or Cornwall. A little bit hard to place the accent precisely as it's put on but I'd say a fake mid-Somerset.

Either that is the kindest beast in existence or just plain suicidal

Douglas Adams' humor does resemble Monty Python. As a matter of fact, he was friends with Graham Chapman and even co-wrote a Monty Python sketch.

Really? That's what you think? Though I guess maybe they would, if they realized that this makes a point for what they're fighting for much better than they ever did.

So what. The book is an adaptation/expansion of the radio plays. Every incarnation of the story is intentionally different. And that still very much looks like a cross breed of cow and pig. It is not really a pig here, either, you know? It's just referred to as the "Dish of the Day".

So what. We're not on a directly Doctor Who related video or forum. In non-fan circles, the character is often referred to as "Doctor Who" (even the actors playing him call him that), though technically that is wrong, but like this, everybody knows who is meant. Granted, a better way to please all sides would have been "The Fifth Doctor of SciFi franchise Doctor Who", but that's perfectly fine, too, I assure you as a self-proclaimed hardcore fan.

Every incarnation of the story differs intentionally from the others. The "original" are the radio plays, but it doesn't really play a role whether it is a talking cow that wants to be eaten, or just some vaguely bovine creature.
