Thanks to liberal policy the world economy is crashing. We must do two things to stop the meltdown NOW!!! Firstly, we need to raise all payroll taxes 10% for one year. We also need to stop (right now) wasteful handout programs like medicare, social security, unemployment,, etc. and lower the minimum wage to $2/hr so we can compete with China. I will work with Boehner, Ryan and my other republican colleagues and take immediate action on these proposals. God bless the GOP!

====ryans plan so far does affect millions of people under 55...but raising the age dsnt matter ....its all about taking money from soc to where your fica payment just disappears and you have to get your own suppport at 60 (but no hmo will cover you unless the buy in is jacked up)

I'm puzzled, when you turn 67, single, with no kids and work all your life and paid into social security, and then you died at 68. Why is it that the the money YOU've earned goes back to the goverment and not to your beneficiaries. It's seems like if you earned it, it's yours to do as you please. I feel that when i get old the gov't hand will always be in my trousers.

Actually, working class males and women are not living as long. People actually are living as long as when Social Security was created; the life expentency seemed to go up because fewer people die in childhood. The only group actually living longer are white collar males. Furthermore, over 1/3 of people who will depend upon Social Security are working at physically demanding jobs--unloading trucks, turning mattresses in hotels, and the like. Raising the retirement age to 70 is a 20% cut.

Ryan's plan wouldn't affect anyone under 55. These people look like a bunch of misinformed seniors. And why shouldn't we raise the retirement age? Life expectancy has gone up significantly since SS was passed in to law. Do these "concerned seniors" deny that fact?
