Great video that. Thank you for posting it, made up to see that footage. A genius and a gentleman. A crying shame there isn't more moving images of him available. All Evertonians , and genuine football fans, should get hold of John Keith's book and audio cassettes on Dixie. Unfortunately, his star was fading by the time was broke out, so I don't think that greatly diminished his career. I had the pleasure of meeting his daughter - an absolute gem. I'm sure he was suitably proud of her.

It's not that the War finished his career - more that it seemed to divide football history. Post war is often seen as better than Dixie's era (in the same way that the Premiership is seen as better than the 60's, 70's and 80's) but the truth of it is that great footballers are timeless.
