This information is not correct. Yes, 33% of Brazilians still are poor but this reporter included all poor as slum livers while most don't lives in slums and slums are not synonimous of disgraced place since most homes in the slums, at least in Rio, have goods like DVD, microwave, washing machine and 100% have cellphone,TV and refrigerator.

"1/3 of the nation lives on severe poverty" - it isn't 33.3%, in fact only 8% of brazilians live on these conditions.

@carsearch2001 The crime level is indeed high, but it all has a root, the problem, police violence and police murders are still high too! Not to mention the corruption within the police and of course most of the politics. I dont know about alimony, but I do know about child support thing, they say its the only thing you go to jail for in Brazil (* jokes), kinda true.
