Oh so good. So very powerful. Really, he is dark brilliance.

He scares me performing...
-
Hold On wins it all!
-
There are occasional moments where he looks like the Devil has just stepped up on stage, and when he looks like a saint

What an amazing set. Song after amazing song, each given a fresh interpretation that makes them sound like you're hearing them for the first time. Brilliant.

I've never understood the Beefhart thing - unique guy, some atonal wanderings, but I just....don't like him. He vaguely resembles one of the many hats that Waits has worn over the years, sometimes stacking them atop eachother; Tom will, all said and done, likely have been releasing meaningful, popular music for 40+ years. 50 if we're very lucky - he's not like anyone. His longevity has never been seen.

@ataylor17 You know what the funny thing is? Louis Armstrong, Th' Legendary Shack*Shakers and Howlin' Wolf got me into Tom Waits and Tom Waits got me into Captain Beefheart, so I hope you don't take offense because of how yours was used in taking some other dude down, but I found yours to be rather funny.

Put away your pretenses... and this is just a bad ass performance... that he did for free... as a means to raise funds for kids who need a special school for their disabilities. There is literally nothing to discredit about this performance.

Jockey Full Of Bourbon was amazing.

What an absolute treat. Tom is an original and he's inspired here. Terrific to get a chance to see my favorite live performer here. Wonderful.
Oh, I see. You're hip. You're trying to educate us. Because most of us have no idea who Beefheart, Armstrong and Howlin' Wolf are. Thank you for saving us from ourselves.

Tom Waits is SO much of an inspirator for me. Although I´m a modernist composer, I really like to come back to this kind of easy listened - but still very intelluctal and interesting - music. Especially for all the nice instrument combinations! And how can´t one love his raspy voice?! More Tom Waits to the people!! ;)
