Two years after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, scientists are finding trouble in the oiled Gulf of Mexico: Fish with lesions and evidence of contamination. But no link has been found between the sick fish and the oil spill. (April 18)

"The fish do not appear to be a danger for human consumption". Yeah, like THAT's the problem.

Fish populations all over the world are collapsing because of overfishing and environmental disasters. Right now estimations indicate by 2044 most fish species will have died out or be on the verge of dying out, if we keep going like we do.

The seas become empty and the thing we ask ourselves is "Then what's for dinner if I don't feel like eating meat?" Damn, my own species makes no sense to me.

Predators eat prey species to stop populations from becoming to large, who in turn eat smaller animals/plants. No fish means water plants and algae take over the sea, which in turn changes the composition of the water. And seas influence our air/climate etc.

And if we want to keep living on this planet, it's all about balance. The planet will survive whatever we do to it, but we won't ;-)

If you really want to know, just read up on how food chains and ecosystems work. I cba to explain lol :P

Well, that's assuming we'll survive the next 100 years.

And at the moment we're at a breaking point. Either we manage to survive somehow and reach the "Type 1, Planetary phase of civilization" in the next 100 years, or we don't.

Of course it's perfectly possible we'll survive even if we fuck up the planet completely, but I think it'll at least help our odds by not fucking it up. And lets be honest, we'll need all the help we can get ;-)

The oil spill cannot be stopped. The oil is running through the crust of the earth, not just from that pipe. We need more help and we will get it. We need to make it known though!
