  • What we need is an absolute free market. No government involvement or regulation whatsoever. Competition will bring higher quality and lower prices as it does in the food industry. Food is as important to survival as healthcare, but nobody would want to shop at government-run grocery stores. Entrepreneurs, motivated by profit, in pursuit of their own selfish gain, are forced to cater to the consumer in order to make money.

  • hey Paul

are you pro insurance or con insurance? what i'm asking is not if you support insurance companies but rather do you think the utilization of insurance increases cost of health care? are you in favor of health savings accounts and high deductible insurance?

  • Paul McKeever should come to the USA and see what how private for profit insurance companies operate.

They make money by taking your money and not paying when you need it.

National insurance saves money by treating people early and avoiding emergency room visits.

Private Health insurance corporations by law have to achieve maximum profit for it's shareholders. being denied for having a pre-existing condition and being denied expensive treatments and surgeries happens often in the USA.

  • I live in the U.K. and I can tell you socialized healthcare is far worse and more expensive than private healthcare.

  • Michael Moore has too much faith in the American government to get this thing right. If you think universal healthcare is a good idea, then you really have to think about how well you're government runs things. It would be a disaster in America.

  • Taxes will not drop if our health are system is privatized. For the last decade, medical user fees have inreased dramatically but my taxes haven't dropped. Private medical systems are an indicator of the corporate takeover of our country.

  • There only 3 countries that OUTLAW private health care they are, Cuba, North Korea and Canada.

  • Dear Friends,

To stop my persistent seizures, I've been recommended for brain surgery by Stanford University.

But I can NOT afford the surgery.

What do you suggest I do to have my Brain Surgery?

HOW COULD YOU HELP ME TO HAVE MY BRAIN SURGERY TO STOP MY SEIZURES?

How about rwriting to your elected officials on my behalf?

  • Private insurance companies make money buy DENYING care, not giving it. Think auto insurance - you have to fight to get money from them.

Its important to understand that health care delivery is profit-oriented (i.e. doctors, and nurses want to work and make money.) But, the actual Health Insurance company (OHIP) should be Non-profit so that they are given incentive to provide care by paying the doctors and nurses to treat you.

  • "Private heathcare is leaps and bounds" better at denying care to save money. Have you seen the movie "SiCKO" ?
