  • Real video footage from the great Billie Holiday; this is incredible; Thank You! I read the book Lady Sing The Blues in school when I was a kid and then I saw the movie but nothing can touch seeing this kind of footage for an entire song...

  • oh dear lord that wonderful, beautiful expressive face....her whole life is told in her face as well as in her eyes. those fleeting glimpses of absolute joy that appear every now and then, as if all the troubles, the hard living, the injustices she endured seem to just vanish and we see the lady day we should have seen every time she appeared: happy, joyous, exuberant and carefree. this is how i choose to honour her, not as a victim but as the strong, beautiful lady she truly was.
